Updates from committee meeting - June 2025

Hello! Now that ELHC's 2025-26 committee is up and running, we are going to make more of an effort to let you all know what is discussed at our meetings, so you can see how the club is run.

With the start of the season still two months away, June's meeting was mainly focused on ensuring new members were settling into roles.

There were some updates, however. Regrettably, the festival planned at Old Loughts' Hockey Club has been cancelled.

This is because Old Loughts' pitch is due to be relayed this summer. The club is in the process of ensuring members are refunded.

Discussions were had about the possibility of a festival-lite experience at Mile End. The pitch had already been booked for social hockey between 2pm and 4pm.

However, with such short notice, there was no guarantee the club would be able to lengthen the timeslot or that organisers could be found in time.

Social hockey will still go ahead as planned, and members are encouraged to volunteer with our Youth section on Sunday, between 10am and 12pm.

Our social secs are already brainstorming a calendar for club events. These will be dependent on fixtures and slipweeks, which have not yet been published.

End of Season Dinner was mentioned briefly (yes, this early). The club has, for the last three years, hosted EoSD at The Fox, near the ExCel Centre.

But given the event's soaring popularity, it was floated that we consider other venues, including some nearer to Aldgate East, where the club typically migrates after the dinner is over. Any input from members is always welcome.
