Established in 1990 as a hockey team within the Metropolitan Police, East London Hockey Club has evolved into a thriving sports and social hub. Today, our current membership boasts an impressive 450 members spanning all ages, genders, and skill levels. In the past seven years alone, our club has doubled in size, fielding eight men's and nine women's teams, including masters, as well as mixed teams. Our teams proudly compete in the London Hockey League, with the a historic promotion of our Women's 1XI to the National Conference in March 2020.
Based at the prestigious Olympic Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre and Mile End Stadium astroturf, we take pride in our inclusivity, community engagement, vibrant social scene, youth programme and the club's overarching growth.
Whether you're a seasoned player new to East London or a former enthusiast eager to reignite your passion, East London Hockey Club offers opportunities for everyone. From beginners to coaches and umpires, we welcome all levels of commitment. Join us in our ongoing journey of growth and discovery.
Furthermore, we champion youth hockey in the local community focusing on accessibility and inclusivity, founding the pioneering youth hockey club section in Tower Hamlets. We collaborate with Sport Inspired to introduce the sport to underprivileged children in Hackney and the surrounding areas.
